I’m never good at these. I’m not sure why. I think it’s because I prefer focus on other people versus myself. Since I can’t do that, I’ll tell you a little about my introduction to horror, my love of the genre, and why it remains one of my absolute favorites to this day.

At the tender age of seven, my grandmother introduced me to A Nightmare on Elm Street. Unlike most children who would be horrified, I was enthralled. Soon after, she followed the movie up with The Dolls, Grandmother’s House, and many other goodies. It wasn’t long until I was hooked. My parents didn’t approve, which meant I had to wait until I visited her on the weekend to get my fix. However, I was able to turn to books when I hit thirteen and fell in love with Dean Koontz and Stephen King. You can’t beat the masters, so I didn’t try.

Now, I’m a fan of all kinds of flicks and novels, but horror remains my favorite. There is just something brilliant and absorbing on the dark end of the spectrum. I love being scared. I love being freaked out. And I love watching some fantastic gore. The ante has been upped in recent years, and filmmakers are starting to appreciate how well received and loved a good horror movie is. It’s about damned time, I say. When I need to escape, horror is always there to give me a lift. You can’t ask for more than that.

I’m JASaare on YouTube, but please call me Jaime. You can see my reviews on Tuesdays on The House of Horror. I’m so thrilled to be a part of this fantastic group of movie reviewers.

All My Best!
Jaime
